Broadway St.- Seaside, OR

"It's Picnic Season, So they're selling a lot more shorties these days!"

My mother, father, and I stand in an old fashion 50's shop in a small Oregon beach town. My mother asks the woman about the price of a vintage Coca-Cola napkin holder, as well as where she'd ever find napkins to fit the tin case.

Her response hit me like a frisbee and left a huge smile on my face. Living in a big city; You hear "oh it's slow season in the modeling biz", "Summers mean pool parties at the roosevelt!", "those balenciaga sandals- so in this season".

The way she answered was so matter of fact and oozed excitement. I contemplate moving to a teeny tiny town, where summers mean it's the "in season" for the shorties, and campouts in the woods.
